Chief Executive Officer Message

Welcome to King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (Gen.Org.)

The General Organization is accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI) and is proud to be one of only six hospitals outside of the USA to have achieved Magnet Hospital status awarded by the American Nurses Credentialing Centre (ANCC). Achieving Magnet Hospital designation is the highest and most prestigious honor an Organization can receive for excellence in nursing and quality patient care. Most recently, the General Organization was the first hospital outside of Northern America to be awarded Stage 7 HIMSS Electronic Medical Records, the highest level of using Electronic Health Records. As a leading tertiary healthcare institution in the region it is with great pride that a full range of healthcare services is provided including Organ Transplantation, Cardiac Services, Medical Genetics, Neurosciences, Oncology and Pediatric Hematology Oncology, to name but a few.

Our mission is to provide the highest level of specialized healthcare in an integrated educational and research setting. This mission is not confined to the physical campuses but extends to our online presence. By browsing this site, you will discover a wealth of information encompassing all areas of the Hospital and the Research Center. Patients and staff can log in to access their Personal Health Record (Sehaty) and access educational material, as well as complete a host of online transactions, giving better control of their health.

The King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center (Gen.Org.) will continue to strive to be one of the regional leaders in healthcare. The transplant programs at this Institution are going from strength to strength and continue to build on past successes. We are very proud of our achievements in the field of transplantation and when compared to transplant centers in US and UK in 2014, the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center ranked 1st in the volume of Pediatric Liver and Kidney Transplants (<18 years old), 1st in the volume of Living Donor Liver Transplants and ranked 2nd in the volume of living donor kidney transplants. The patient and graft survival rates are comparable to the US transplant centers for all organs.

Basic and translational research is a central component of our vision to be a world leading healthcare institution and it is with great pride that this Institution is the country’s representative member and contributor to the International Cancer Genome consortium. The Research Centre has a robust and thriving scientific environment and is one of the leading centers of the Saudi Human Genome Program supported by the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. The Research Centre is also well known in the region as one of the major contributors to molecular diagnostics and radiation medicine.

For more than 30 years Academic & Training Affairs has provided outstanding and progressive educational activities as well as sophisticated audiovisual services. In 2004 this Institution was the first in the region to be accredited by the American Academy for Continuing Education (AACME). Currently there are 21 residency training programs and 69 sub-specialty fellowship programs offered. In addition there are 14 Allied Health Programs offered which have attracted hundreds of allied health personnel, hospital management and administrators who have seized the opportunity to develop and enhance their professional careers. In the ten year period between Year 2005 and 2015 more than 285 medical and in excess of 525 non-medical scholarships have been awarded. Scholarship recipients study in a wide range of locations including North America, Europe and Australasia and the high level of their training is reflected in the fact that over 93% of scholarship recipients have been recruited to positions within the General Organization.
Ultimately our success relies on patient satisfaction, the dedication of our staff and the continual journey towards medical excellence.
