Radiology Residency Program - Riyadh

Program Overview

The Radiology Residency Program at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSH&RC) is a four-year program that provides comprehensive and challenging training in all radiology subspecialties. Each year, residents will complete 13 rotations, each lasting four weeks. The program is guided by the guidelines and curriculum of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) and is supervised by experienced faculty members. Our residents will have the opportunity to rotate in other centers, gaining diverse experiences and exposure to different patient populations. We also place a strong emphasis on research, with all residents required to complete at least one research project during their training. This will provide them with the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of the field of radiology. Our program is designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience you need to become a proficient and compassionate radiologist. We look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your full potential as a radiologist.

Training Structure

The Radiology Residency Program at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSH&RC) is structured over four years, with residents progressing from R1 to R4. The first two years are considered junior years, with the second two years being senior years. Throughout the program, residents will rotate through a variety of subspecialties, including chest, abdomen, neuro, pediatric, cardiac, intervention, nuclear medicine, breast and musculoskeletal (MSK). The program follows the curriculum set by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS), which ensures that residents receive training in all of the core subspecialties of radiology. During the first four months of the program, residents will have morning technical sessions to provide them with a solid foundation in the basic principles of radiology. On-call duties will begin in the fifth rotation and will continue throughout the training period. This will provide residents with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in a real-world setting and gain hands-on experience. Our program is designed to provide residents with a comprehensive and challenging training experience that will prepare them for a successful career in diagnostic radiology. We look forward to working with you and helping you achieve your full potential as a radiologist.

Educational Activities

The Radiology Department at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSH&RC) provides daily teaching activities for residents. These activities are led by one of the radiology consultants on a rotation basis and take place from 11am to 12pm. All trainees are released from their duties during these academic activities, which are set by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS). R1 residents will have physics lectures during their first year, which will take place every Monday morning for the length of the course. These lectures are designed to provide residents with a solid foundation in the basic principles of radiology. In addition, senior residents (R4) will participate in a series of mock exams as a preparation for their board exams. These mock exams will help residents to become familiar with the format of the board exams and identify any areas where they may need additional study or review. Our educational activities are designed to provide residents with the knowledge and skills they need to become proficient and compassionate radiologists. We are dedicated to helping residents achieve their full potential and are committed to providing them with the best possible training experience.
