King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (Gen. Org.) runs a residency program in General Surgery. A resident is considered in junior level during the first three (3) years. As per the curriculum, the junior resident is required to complete 24 months in general surgery and 12 months in the subspecialties (pediatric surgery, vascular surgery, plastic surgery, intensive care unit, emergency room, and an elective rotation).
During the fourth and fifth year in the residency program, the resident is upgraded to senior level and it becomes compulsory to have the remaining rotation in General Surgery. The residents are encouraged to actively participate in the department’s research activities.
