Pulmonary Medicine

The fellowship program is designed specifically to meet the practical and educational needs necessary to produce physicians with sound knowledge and skills to take appropriate decisions and actions in all areas of Pulmonary Medicine.  It includes pulmonary physiology (lung mechanics and interpretation of acid base disturbances), all disease process affecting lung acute or chronic, lung cancer evaluation and management, sleep disorders evaluation management, pulmonary procedures (bronchoscopy, pleural biopsy), interventional pulmonology (Wang needle transtracheal biopsy, cytology, laser bronchoscopy, stent placement) and lung transplantation.

It provides additional training in appropriate aspects of critical care and enables the physician to assume a consultant level responsibility for the management of pulmonary cases. During the two years of training, the fellows will be offered adequate time for research and encouraged to participate in protocol preparation.
