This educational day is designed in response to the increased need to up-skill staff nurses to provide quality care to patients in different clinical units. The Aim of this activity is to build-up and to develop the critical thinking and the clinical judgment of staff nurses to successfully meet skills and competencies required to provide safe and proficient care.
Activities are divided into three parallel tracks:
- Nursing Students: it targets all Saudi nursing students from any level, and it will focus on knowledge and attitude related to direct patient care.
- General Nursing: it targets all general nursing staff from different clinical units and it will focus on essential support measures and skills like; Pain, Body Mechanics, and skin integrity.
- Critical Care: this will be for acute care nurses with focus on life saving skills
The Learning Objectives
- Application of International Patient Safety Goals in relation to daily nursing care
- Review, understand, and apply the holistic assessment approach of patients
- Discuss the advancement of nursing support measures and procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills related to care of critical ill patients
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills related to patient’s care

Nursing students, nursing staff, and all healthcare providers
The available programs:
- Nursing Student Track (International Patient Safety Goals, Physical Assessment, Communication, and Critical Thinking)
- General Nursing Care Track (Pain Management: Adult & Pediatrics, Patient Manual Handling, Preceptorship & Staff Competencies Assessment, and Pressure Injury and Prevention)
- Critical Care Track (Basic Dysrhythmia Interpretation Course, Tracheostomy Care and Management, Chest Tube Care and Management, and Ventilator Associated Pneumonia Prevention Management & Care)
