The Department of Dentistry at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre provides oral and maxillofacial care using state-of-the-art facilities for tertiary care in- and out-patients, as well as for eligible medically healthy out-patients. Remaining clinic time is utilized to provide primary dental care to hospital employees and their dependents. The mission is accomplished by engaging in clinical practice, teaching, research, continuing education, medical outreach, and by providing consultative service to other hospital departments and outside institutions.

The Department of Dentistry serves four major categories of patients:

  • Medically compromised (cardiac, oncology, BMT, organ transplant, renal, etc.)
  •  Dental tertiary care (cleft lip & palate, craniofacial anomalies, oral cancer)
  •  VIP / Protocol patients
  • Eligible Hospital Employees / Dependents

1- patients who are medically compromised and have a well-defined relationship between their systemic health problems and their oral health, whose medical condition may make routine dental care hazardous without specific considerations and management, or who need dental/oral clearance prior to medical care at our institution

2-  patients who are experiencing oral-facial pain

3-  patients needing maxillofacial or comprehensive prosthetics

4-  patients with facial deformities

5-  patients requiring general anesthesia for dental treatment.

The department also staffs the walk-in emergency dental clinic in the Family Medicine/Polyclinic area, as well as the satellite clinic at KFNCCC, and provides team members to the Hospital’s Cleft lip &Palate and Head & Neck tumor/oncology teams.
