Dr. Al Qasabi: 277 thousand radiology procedures carried out by the Radiology Department at King Faisal Specialist Hospital in a year

His Excellency Dr. Qasim Al Qasabi, Chief Executive Officer of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre honoured a number of Radiology Department employees for their outstanding performance in the past year.

Dr. Al Qasabi emphasized the great role of the radiology Department in offering high quality services to patients. He praised the efforts exerted by the department’s staff who performed approximately 277 thousand radiology procedures in 2015 which included more than 9 thousand interventional radiology procedures and more than 10 thousand nuclear medicine radiology procedures.

He pointed out to the fact that the department had established a programme for CT scan and interventional radiology which aimed at unifying the standards of radiology procedures to comply with requirements in order to avoid its repetition at KFSH&RC. This in turn contributes to avoiding the patient’s exposure to more radiation unnecessarily as the programme had contributed to training 253 specialists from the Ministry of Health including Radiology Doctors, nurses and technicians.

Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Sughair, Head of the Radiology Department at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre in Riyadh said that employees at the Radiology Department make strenuous efforts which contributed to achieving great successes in all medical fields at the Hospital. He pointed to an example of an organ transplant for one patient at the Hospital requires radiology procedures for 5-15 donors to evaluate their conditions which include Ultrasound radiology, CT, MRI as well as nuclear medicine.

At the end of the ceremony Dr. Al-Qasabi handed prizes to the honorees while memorable photos were being taken.
