KFSH&RC Hosts the 1st Gulf Multidisciplinary Meeting  on Uoroloigical Cancer

"The First Gulf Multidisciplinary Meeting on Urological Cancer" discussed modern immunotherapy and chemotherapy available in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Gulf Countries, for treatment of bladder cancer and prostate cancer. The conference was inaugurated by H. E. Qasim Al Qasabi, the Chief Executive Officer of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, General Organization, with the presence and participation of 25 speakers from KSA and abroad.

Dr. Khalid Al-Othman, Consultant Urology and Head of the Organizing Committee in KFSH&RC in Riyadh indicated that prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men around the world, with less frequency in Saudi Arabia because of lack of early detection, saying that the conference sought to develop an integrated plan among Gulf Countries in order to early detect urinary tract cancers and modern techniques of treatment due to massive similarity of environmental conditions of those countries.

The conference which was organized by KFSH&RC in corporation with Saudi Oncology Society and Saudi Urological Association, highlighted through 25 research-papers, many topics, such as prostate cancer, bladder cancer, kidney cancer, developments of cancers' treatment and ways of diagnosing prostate cancer, in particular in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Gulf Countries” Dr. Al-Othman stated.

The conference also discussed the use of many modern treatment for urinary tract cancer which was not available in the past through 25 speakers, 8 of whom from U.S.A, Canada and Britain.

The conference was accredited by Saudi Commission for Health Specialists and American Academy for Continuing Education.
