On the Occasion of International Volunteer Day, King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre Honors 95 Male and Female Volunteers

 The General Organization of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC) in Riyadh celebrated the International Volunteer Day by graduating and honoring 95 male and female volunteers from the second batch of the Volunteer Program at KFSH&RC-Riyadh. It was also announced that an office of the Volunteer Program will be opened at KFSH&RC-Jeddah.

His Excellency Dr. Majed Alfayyadh, Chief Executive Officer of the General Organization of KFSH&RC, stated that the hospital chose a slogan for the event "#My Volunteering _ My Nationality" in a true embodiment of the meaning of giving and caring for the country and contributing to the development of its people and institutions.

H.E. Dr. Alfayyadh expressed his gratitude to all young male and female volunteers who worked in the hospital day in and day out to serve the patients and fulfill their requirements and deliver health care through various programs. H.E. Dr. Alfayyadh explained that the batch that was graduated and honored comprised 95 male and female volunteers and was an extension of the first batch that was graduated in May this year and comprised 43 male and female volunteers. The total number of volunteers who completed the required number of hours stood at 138 male and female volunteers within 1 year since the official launch of program in December 2017.

H.E. Dr. Alfayyadh explained that the General Organization of KFSH&RC seeks to become the first and the best center in the region for voluntary work in the health sector in line with the Saudi vision of 2030. The Volunteer Program has been linked to the strategy of general organization relating to the "community relations" with a view to enhancing cooperation and interaction with all segments of the society and creating opportunities and community experiences that stimulate the spirit of giving. The idea isto make it part of an active institutional mechanism.

H.E. Dr. Alfayyadh further said that KHSH&RC seeks to create opportunities for voluntary work for the people of this country within the health sector. It intends to strengthen the values of the community and develop the skills and capabilities of volunteers in the areas of communication, leadership, training, and learning how to overcome the cognitive and practical challenges that positively reflect the community growth.

H.E. Dr. Alfayyadh highlighted the ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Labour and Social Development in volunteer programs, pointing out that the Volunteer Program at KFSH&RC-Riyadh will constitute an important part of the official platform of Ministry of Labour and Social Development. This is expected to offer opportunities for those interested in volunteering.

H.E. Dr. Alfayyadh announced the inauguration of the Volunteer Office at KFSH&RC-Jeddah to integrate it with the Volunteer Office at the KFSH&RC-Riyadh. He also launched the Volunteer Program website within the main website of KFSH&RC, which allows volunteers to register in the program and get all the necessary information about the program and the hospital.

Mrs. Hanan Al-Seif, the supervisor of the Volunteer Program at KFSH&RC-Riyadh, stated that a total of 1043 people participated in the Volunteer Program achieving 1124 hours of volunteer work under various programs to help patients and serve them under direct supervision of the office of the Volunteer Program.

At the end of the function, H. E. Dr. Alfayyadh, CEO of KFSH&RC, honored the male and female volunteers and the members of the Volunteer Program office and members of the executive leadership from various departments.
