The department of Clinical Nutrition is dedicated to provide and promote optimal nutrition therapy and offers nutritional screening, assessment, intervention and counseling for all patient populations including pediatric, neonatal, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. inpatients and ambulatory care patients who are under the care of King Faisal specialist Hospital.
The Clinical Nutrition staff includes the expertise and leadership in clinical Nutrition field as well as in nutrition education. Clinical dietitians and assistant dietitians who work directly with patients & their families to develop nutrition plans that meet the medical and cultural needs.
All of our clinical staff are licensed and registered nutrition professionals, many with advanced degrees and specialized certifications. Our team has expertise in many areas of medical nutrition therapy and specialize in pediatrics & Adult nutrition as provide comprehensive nutritional care for both inpatients and outpatients.

CLINICAL NUTRITION INPATIENT SERVICES
Our dietitians are an important part of a multidisciplinary care team with inpatient. A clinical dietitian is assigned to each patient care unit at The KFSHRC. We provide comprehensive nutrition services for inpatients of all ages according to medical need. The dietitian will consult with the medical staff for the patient about special diets, modified formulas, enteraltube feedings and parenteral(IV) nutrition. Our dietitians work closely with home health care nurses to identify any patients in need of nutritional intervention. Dietitians conduct evaluations over the phone or during home visits, and/or with family members. Appropriate education and recommendations for improving the patient’s nutritional status are provided.
