The mission of the Clinical Engineering Department is to provide for the Clinical Technology Support needs of our Clients within the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre.

Through a full spectrum of technology management services, including demand and preventive maintenance, technology evaluation and acquisition and operational support, clinical engineering department fulfills this mission.

The Clinical Engineering Department also conducts and promotes service training programs, as well as encourages professional development within the department. We pursue effective, high quality and fiscally responsible services, while maintaining a culture of cooperation and professionalism.

Organizational Structure:

 Currently the department operates under Administrative Services, KFSHRC-Riyadh and reports directly to Deputy Executive Director, Administrative Services, KFSHRC-Riyadh.

Achievements:

1- Establishment and commissioning of In-House Repair Shop for Endoscopy Equipment , in Collaboration With Salehiya Trading Establishment This had been positively impacting patient care by reducing turnaround time of repair for from Six (6) weeks , to TWO days only. Also Repair cost was reduced by almost 30%. It also eliminated the administrative and logistics work- and associated cost-needed to bring the equipment outside the hospital premises (Gate pass procedure is eliminated), follow-up time, etc.

2- The department continued to support the organization’ growth both horizontally and vertically. We are serving as medical equipment coordinator for mega & major construction projects at the organization

3- Our core business commitment is priority for us, we are accomplishing/completing around 26500 service work order on yearly basis

4- Our compliance rate to the Scheduled Preventive Maintenance  is 96%

5- The department is heavily contributing to the medical technology/equipment acquisition process, we helped equipping the organization with the state of the art medical technology, few examples are:

  • Brain Suite Project
  • Digital Date Integrated System in Operating Rooms
  • Integrated Robotic Minimal Invasive System
  • Lab Automation
  • Cath Lab Hemodynamic System
  • Robotic Catheter-Guidance System in Cath Lab
  • Surgical Microscopy Systems

6- Establishment of 5 years retirement plan for all medical equipment serviced by our department where we developed 7 criteria for equipment evaluation to determine which year the equipment is due for retirement. We just finished the 4th retirement plan (2016—2020)
