The Life Support Training Center (LSTC) offers a full-range of training courses to healthcare professionals within the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre General Organization and to the communities at large throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. LSTC courses are conducted under the patronage of the American Heart Association (AHA) and the Saudi Neonatal Resuscitation Program (SNRP).

The Training Center instructs healthcare providers in Basic Life Support (BLS) Initial/Renewal, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Initial/Renewal, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP),  ACLS Made Easy, PALS Made Easy, NRP Made Easy; BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP Instructor Courses and Procedural Sedation Course (PSC). LSTC also provides Family and Friends CPR, First Aid, and Heart Savers CPR & AED to the community.

The LSTC conducts, monitors, and documents all relevant hospital wide basic and advanced life support mock codes and generates reports for assessment on a quarterly and annual basis in order to facilitate the overall improvement of emergent quality care. This includes the Mock Code teaching sessions for the hospital’s residency program.  In addition to reviewing, assessing and reporting these outcomes to the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Committee, the LSTC contributes largely to the advancement of specialized growth of medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.

LSTC utilizes the latest state of the art medical simulation training equipment for all of its professional courses which are delivered to Physicians, Nurses, Paramedics, Respiratory Therapists, X-Ray Technologists, and other allied health professionals.  As one of the first to offer premier simulation training, our programs provide participants with the ability to recognize and promptly management pre-arrest conditions. It similarly allows early management of cardiac arrest up to the return of spontaneous circulation, termination of resuscitation, or transfer of patient care to an appropriate medical unit.

The LSTC was the first International Training Center to create the Made Easy Courses for ACLS, NRP and PALS provider courses. They were developed to support individual professionals with the AHA teaching methods and learning materials. These courses have significantly improved the overall success rate for those who have never taken the AHA certification courses. Moreover, LSTC has worked in collaboration with the Anesthesiology Department in the development and facilitation of the Procedural Sedation Course, which has been mandated by Medical & Clinical Affairs.
