The Department of Dermatology mission is to provide the population of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the highest quality medical care through comprehensive diagnosis, management and treatment of various dermatological diseases. The scope of services includes phototherapy and laser treatment. The unit has vast experience with cutaneous diseases related to organ transplant, oncology and immunocompromised patients. It has unique experience in the Kingdom in biologic therapy for psoriasis and immunobullous diseases.  Another distinctive expertise is the program for cutaneous tumor prevention by repetitive chemical peel for xeroderma pigmentosum patients, combined vascular anomalies and hidradinitis suppurativa . Additionally, extracorporeal photopheresis for graft versus host disease and cutaneous T cell lymphoma is in place. The Dermatology Department is also an integral participant in the Saudi Dermatology Residency Training Program (Saudi Council for Health Specialties) and teaching students at the Alfaisal University.


The Department of Dermatology was established, first, as a separate Unit from the Department of Medicine in May 2005 and became a department in February 2011.  In June 2010 dermatology clinic moved to its new clinic facility in the North Tower, Level 9, created eight (8) specialty clinics targeting complicated diseases along the vision and mission of being a tertiary care hospital.  In June 2015 we started providing one stop shop service for our General Anesthesia (GA) patients wherein they are received and discharged from our clinic directly without going through Day Surgical Unit (DSU), or the Recovery Room (RR). The feedback was highly positive from the patients and their relatives.
