Overview

The endocrine system is responsible for the production of hormones that are released into our blood stream and perform various important functions throughout our body. Several diseases, including cancer, or neoplasms, of the endocrine glands, can lead to hormonal disruptions that severely affect a patient’s life. We conduct research into clinical correlations that influence these diseases, while also investigating underlying genetic defects.

A Genetic Focus on Research Into Endocrine Disorders

Our research aims to shed light on the underlying genetic information that manifests as endocrine disorders and neoplasms. We focus on the role of oncogenes and tumour suppressor genes in the development of cancer, and the genetics influence on disease presentation, therapeutic response, and prognosis. Disorders of hormone resistance or access, disorders of sex development and endocrine causes of hypertension are also part of our studies.
