Overview
We aim to gain a better understanding of the genetics underlying cancer development and disease processes, with data that accurately represents the Saudi population.
Understanding Genetic Predisposition to Breast Cancer in Saudi Women
Breast cancer is one of the most common malignancies affected women globally. In Saudi, patients tend to present younger and with more advanced disease. There is a gap in the understanding of genetic factors predisposing Saudi woman to breast cancer. By using both short-read and long-read sequencing technologies, we aim to identify mutations and changes in cancer predisposition genes and establish a detailed catalog of variants specific to the Saudi population.
We hope that this will improve genetic risk assessment and lead to helpful strategies in counselling and screening at-risk groups.
