"First Saudi International Symposium on Bleeding Disorders"
21-23 February 2004 / 01-03 Muharram 1425

Goals and Objectives:

The established programs at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center provide patients with bleeding diathesis, comprehensive care at a tertiary level, involving the professional interaction between different levels of care.

The topics that will be discussed during this 3-day symposium will not only provide an overview of basic concepts on bleeding disorders, but will assess the current status of care, including diagnosis and treatment aspects.  Highlighted topics will be the recent advances in molecular diagnosis and gene therapy, particularly in hemophilia, in addition to its preventive programs. Our goals are to stimulate new and creative ideas, make practical plans for nationwide upgrading of healthcare and to improve communication between different care providers throughout the Kingdom, with the ultimate goal being the formation of a national program for bleeding disorders.
