FIRST CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
DEADLINE: 30 July 2004
Abstract Form
- PREPARATION: Title and complete text must appear within the four defined margins. Illustrations are not allowed, but a brief table is permissible. The abstract should be a brief summary
of the paper and should include an introductory sentence stating its purpose. A brief description of the work involved and a statement of any conclusions to be drawn from the work should be included.
It is not satisfactory to state, "The results will be discussed".
- RESPONSIBILITY: Authors have full responsibility for any statements submitted. Authors are also responsible for proof reading the typed abstract. Authors must disclose and explain any
potential conflicts of interest in a separate letter enclosed with the abstract.
- CHANGES: Once abstracts have been submitted to the Symposium Scientific Committee, changes will not be permitted.
- TITLE: Capitalize all letters. Keep brief, indicating the nature of the investigation.
- AUTHORS: List last name, then state author's name and institutional affiliations. If no institution is involved, give city and state.
- TEXT:
Type in lower case letters. Do not skip a line between title and author and between author and text. Indent beginning of paragraph three spaces. The text must be in single paragraph. Use only very common abbreviations. Non-proprietary (generic) names are required the first time a drug is mentioned and are to be written in lower case letters.
- SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS: Abstracts may be submitted in one or both of the following forms, which must fit in the box provided.
A. Type written abstract plus three (3) photocopies, and if available
B. Abstract on 3.5" floppy diskette. The file should be formatted in Microsoft Word for
Windows or WordPerfect. Disk must be labeled with author's name; title of paper and
word processing program used including version number. Provide a printout of the
abstract plus three (3) copies that exactly match the disk file. File names must clearly
indicate the contents of each file.
- DO NOT FOLD OR BEND the form when returning abstract to the Symposium Organizing Committee.
- PROTECT the original and reproductions with the use of cardboard backing if necessary.
NOTE FOR POSTER ABSTRACTS
Abstracts not to exceed 200 words are accepted for poster presentation at the symposium. Each abstract and poster presentation should contain original information. If possible, the main theme of the
symposium "Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic Robotic Surgery" should be incorporated as well. Case presentations and reviews are discouraged.
