PreTerm Delivery
Causes, Identification & Management

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to our Symposium "Preterm Delivery: Causes, Identification and Management" which will be held at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, 29-30 October 2002 / 23-24 Shaban 1423.

Preterm delivery is defined as the birth before 37 completed weeks, babies born before 32 weeks experience the highest rate of mortality and morbidity. Prevention of preterm delivery is a major goal for obstetricians and healthcare providers worldwide, because preterm birth is the most important determinant of adverse neonatal outcome.

The objective of this Conference is to highlight the recent advances in Causes, Identification and Management of Preterm delivery by updating neonatologists, clinicians, nurses, epidemiologists, immunologists, ultrasound technologists, and other healthcare professionals. The role of integrated teamwork in this complex problem can never be underestimated.

In addition to raising awareness in all aspects of preterm labor, we anticipate that an improved ability to predict preterm labor will depend on the increased research in the pathophysiology of the condition. We trust that this research will be inspired during this meeting.

We look forward to your participation in this international meeting. It will bring together national and international authorities in the fields of perinatal medicine and neonatology.

While in the capital of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, you will experience the warmth and hospitality of the people in a city that encompasses a rich cultural heritage amidst its modern architecture.

As we all join together, we aim to improve perinatal outcomes in our countries.
