Summary

Responsible for provision of medical care in the field of Radiology, in accordance with current medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations and the Hospital’s policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

*Clinical Responsibilities

1. Participates in the duties necessary forthe efficient handling and reporting of all examinations.

2. Establishes and maintains diagnosticservices in Radiology in coordination with Section Head.

3. Minimizes patient exposure to ionizingradiation according to (ALARA) As Low As Reasonably Achievable principlesoutlined in the Hospital Radiation Safety Manual.

4. Ensures exams are indicated andappropriate based on available information (risk vs. benefits assessment).

5. Assumes primary responsibility for thecare of patients referred for Radiological exams or procedures. This includesperformance of exams and procedures, dictation of results, and verification ofreports.

6. Responsible for the timely completion,completeness and accuracy of Radiological reports.

7. Provides on-call service and ensureavailability and response time within the prescribed timeframe in accordancewith Hospital policy.

 

*Academic Responsibilities

1. Directs and advices junior physicians onpatient management, especially in Radiology.

2. Guides and actively assists in thetraining and teaching of Fellows and Residents in Radiology.

3. Keeps abreast with all the latesttechniques and developments, especially Radiology, following and implementingthem on a selective basis to improve technical standards.

4. Actively participates in the educationalactivities and training programs of the department.

 

*Research Responsibilities

1. Participates in clinical or basic andeducational research projects in area of specialization in order to advanceknowledge, improve the quality of post graduate education and contribute to thenational and international recognition of the Hospital.

 

*Administrative Responsibilities

1. Undertakes the administrative dutiesassociated with the running of the department.

2. Participates in departmental meetingsand serves on Hospital committees, as required.

3. Assists the department in thedevelopment and implementation of techniques and practices that help maximizethe utilization of all resources within the department and across the Hospital.

4. Abides by the current Hospital andmedical staff bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations and policies and keepsupdated of any changes that might occur.

5. Follows all Hospital related policiesand procedures.

6. Participates in self and otherseducation, training and development, as applicable.

7. Performs other related duties asassigned.

Education

Graduation from an accredited medical school acceptable to the Hospital.

Experience Required

Five (5) years of training in specialty and subspecialty plus post-training experience is required.
