The Annals of Saudi Medicine under the Scientific Publications Office (Academic and Training Affairs) at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre is going to hold its Critical Appraisal Workshop on 7 February 2019 (one full day). The workshop will cover a great range of in-depth topics such as:  

• Introduction to Critical Appraisal
• Why Sample Size Matters and How to Calculate it
• The Math Phobic’s Guide to Reading the Literature
• Overview of Retrospective Chart Review (RCR)
• Overview of Systematic Review
• Overview of Randomized Control Trial (RCT)
• 3 Hands-on Training Sessions

Objectives:

The workshop is your chance to:

• Gain the skills to evaluate and critique published papers.
• Develop a keen eye of a professional reviewer.

Date:

The workshop will be a one-day workshop, and it will be held on 7 February 2019.

Venue:

Mövenpick Hotel - Riyadh  

Audience:

• Physicians, researchers, pharmacists, nurses, allied healthcare professionals, and medical students must attend this workshop.
• It is a pre-requisite in all training programs according to the CanMEDs Guidelines in order to attain the capabilities of the scholar role.

Certificates:

At the end of the program, attendees will be receiving two official certificates as described below:  

1. Saudi Commission for Health Specialities (CME accredited)
2. King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Academic and Training Affairs

Speakers:

Expert speakers who have international records in publishing and reviewing research projects will participate in presenting this workshop.
