The general organization of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre KFSH&RC (Gen. Org.) has signed a 3-year agreement of cooperation with health solutions leader Press Ganey. According to the agreement, the company will provide consultation services for applying the principles of high reliability organizations (HROs) at the main hospital of KFSH&RC in Riyadh and its branch in Jeddah as part of its transformational change initiative “Zero Harm: KFSH&RC’s journey to prevent harm from medical errors and to work as a High Reliability Organization."

The agreement was signed by His Excellency Dr. Majid Alfayyadh, Chief Executive Officer of the general organization of KFSH&RC, and Dr. Wael Qahoush, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Press Ganey.

After signing the agreement, H.E. Dr. Alfayyadh said in a press statement: "We are proud to partner with experts in the field of reliability. This would surely help us in our transformation journey to prevent harm from medical errors, which is integral to our patient care because we provide the finest specialized medical care services in a highly safe environment." H.E. Dr. Alfayyadh further said: "This will be achieved by providing the necessary training and application of reliability practices and principles derived from atomic power reactors, aviation, and other highly reliability organizations (HROs) and by instilling values, concepts and behaviors that help accelerate performance improvement and enhance and strengthen patient safety culture among medical service providers."

Dr. Wael Qahoush lauded this agreement saying "We take pride in this partnership, which is the first of its kind in the region. We are confident that this would support us in the application of strategies of high reliability organizations in the health sector and would have a similar impact on improving performance for patients and health care providers. This partnership enhances the status of KFSH&RC as the premier medical institution in the application of the best international standards as part of the national transformation program in line with the Saudi Vision 2030."

Under this agreement, Press Ganey in cooperation with the KFSH&RC will implement the high reliability principles that are implemented worldwide to help reduce the harm caused by medical errors. The joint cooperation also seeks to introduce the first of its kind model in the region to incorporate high reliability strategies in the health sector that are being used in other sectors such as atomic energy and aviation. KFSH&RC-Riyadh has been a pioneer in this field by adopting high reliability as a key pillar in its strategy for providing health care in 2018.

Press Ganey was selected for this initiative because it is a world leader in the application of high reliability corporate governance in the health sector for over 30 years. It has a partnership with more than 1,100 hospitals and has been ranked among the fastest growing specialist consulting firms in the US in 2018.
