Project Summary
Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains one of the leading causes of cancer morbidity and mortality in Saudi Arabia, with late-stage diagnosis contributing to poor survival. This project develops a point-of-care blood-based biomarker panel to detect early-stage CRC. Using proteomics and metabolomics profiling, biomarkers are identified from early-stage CRC patients, benign cases, and healthy controls. Validated candidates will be optimized into a rapid, cost-effective diagnostic tool suitable for deployment in hospitals and primary care settings.
The ultimate goal is a non-invasive, scalable test that improves early detection rates, supports national screening programs, and reduces healthcare burden by enabling earlier intervention and improved patient outcomes.
