Overview
By uniting diverse expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, and clinical research, we drive impactful discoveries in cancer prevention and control.
A Focus on Demographic Factors, Population Trends and Age Dynamics of Cancer
When it comes to population health, deeper understanding is needed about the patterns of behavior and regional or cultural factors that impact patient care. Cancer is an emerging public challenge in Saudi Arabia, but while diagnostic and treatment services are provided free of charge, there is a gap in prevention and early detection efforts. For example, due to cultural barriers and limited awareness, 90% of women over the age of 50 report to never having had a mammogram.
We conduct research on the many factors that impact cancer care, analyze age-related trends in disease and are establishing a Gulf Centre for Cancer Registration which will significantly contribute to the ongoing knowledge of population health, and inform national health policies of raising awareness, early detection through screening, and prevention strategies.
