Overview

We aim to advance precision oncology through the discovery of novel biomarkers that will set help to bring faster, more accurate and personalised solutions in the care of some of the commonest cancers affecting our population.

Discovering New Biomarkers and Creating Precision Cancer Treatments for the Saudi Population

Much of our research is focused on studying cancer in the Saudi context, making our outcomes specifically applicable to our local population. Since most of the data in the literature is derived from studies of Western populations, a comprehensive look at the local genetics and potential differences in disease course will address a knowledge gap and guide more personalised treatment strategies. In our current projects, we examine thyroid cancer, gliomas, and adrenocortical carcinoma. We take multiple approaches to discover new information about cancer; with thyroid cancer in particular, we tackle clinical questions from the point of view of genomics, viruses and enzymes. Our expected outcomes include novel biomarker discovery for diagnosis and prognosis, and the development of precision treatments.
