Naser Elkum

Dr. Naser Elkum is a senior clinical scientist and research leader with over 30 years of experience in biostatistics, epidemiology, and translational prevention research. He leads national and institutional initiatives focused on early disease detection, biomarker discovery, and precision risk stratification, with particular expertise spanning cancer, cardiovascular, and cardiometabolic diseases. His work integrates multi-omics technologies, population-based registries, and advanced statistical modeling to translate complex data into clinically actionable insights. Dr. Elkum has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications (H-index: 35) and has played a pivotal role in establishing biostatistics and epidemiology programs across the Gulf region and North America. At KFSH&RC, he collaborates closely with clinical and research teams to advance data-driven prevention strategies that support precision medicine and population health.

His career spans senior scientific and leadership roles at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre, Sidra Medicine (Qatar), Dasman Diabetes Institute (Kuwait), GlaxoSmithKline (USA), and leading research organizations in North America. He has founded and led biostatistics and epidemiology units, supported large national registries, and contributed to high-impact research across oncology, cardiovascular, and metabolic diseases. His career is defined by bridging methodological rigor with clinical relevance to inform prevention, early detection, and evidence-based health policy.
