Medical Records Services Riyadh  

Introduction:

The Medical Records Services Department at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSHRC) in Riyadh will provide a high level of internship training in tertiary healthcare and research settings. The four (4) week internship program is designed for interns who graduated from local Health Information Management, Hospital Administration, and other related Diploma and Bachelor degree programs. The internship program is designed to:
• Allow interns to get hands-on experience in Medical Records processes and workflow.
• Facilitate Medical Record involvement and interaction with other authorized hospital departments.
• Teach about the future of Health Information Management.
• Provide knowledge and skills through presentations, shadowing, and completing assigned tasks within the sections of Medical Records.

  

Objectives:

Interns will rotate through five (5) sections of the Medical Records department as follows:
1. File Area:
• Learn the workflow of patient records between Medical Records Services and other hospital departments (e.g., Clinical Appointments, Administrative work).
• Understand the workflow of patient records within the Medical Records Services Department and the interaction between Medical Records Riyadh Main, KFNCCC, Jeddah, and Madinah sites.
• Learn the Terminal Digit Filing System.
2. Processing Area:
• Learn to assemble paper records after each inpatient encounter.
• Learn about batch scanning of paper records.
3. Coding:
• General Medical Coding Orientation.
• Overview of Revenue Cycles.
4. Transcription:
• General Transcription Orientation.
5. Release of Information:
• Learn the process of releasing patient health information to authorized individuals and entities.

 
 

Duration:

• Four (4) weeks

 

Acceptance Criteria:

• Internship request letter from intern’s sponsor
• Saudi national or born to a Saudi mother 
• A GPA of 3 out of 5 and above, or equivalent
