Pathology & Laboratory Medicine

The vision of the Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Department is to be a standard setting service provider as well as a primary reference in the field of Laboratory Medicine, both locally and regionally, while promoting professionalism and excellence in the delivery of laboratory services. We are also focused on ensuring patient-focused and cost-effective core diagnostic services.

Ongoing continuous educational activities are the essence of laboratory field in general. The DPLM understands the value of professional development and its impact on quality of services and staff morale so it places great efforts and investment to provide acceptable variety of means to develop staff technically.

The DPLM provides students with an excellent way of broadening their knowledge of medicine and determining their level of interest in the specialty. Students are given first-hand knowledge of the central role pathology plays in the diagnosis of disease, and as such, are valuable for students going into almost any clinical specialty. Over the years many local trainees have studied and learned from our skilled team.

The donor center coordinates regular donation campaigns with community representatives and companies to help in-need patients at KFSHRC-J and other hospitals in the area. During the past few years our Donor Center has successfully conducted many in-house and out-doors blood donation campaigns in collaboration with community representatives and major companies.

KFSHRC-J has developed a Blood Donation Replacement Program to support hospitals and clinics across the Western Region. This Program is assisting many patients who were admitted to hospitals that either have no blood donation centers or were not able to successfully recruit donors of blood and blood components to meet their needs.
