The Department of Radiology employs state-of-the-art facilities and advanced technology for diagnostic, interventional, and therapeutic imaging-based medical procedures. The staff maintains a safe environment in the department, offering the services throughout the day, and after working hours for emergency cases, while placing a strong emphasis upon optimizing the patient experience. The department offers diverse and dynamic training and research programs to medical and technical staff in their chosen fields. The staff holds the highest qualifications from diverse regions all over the globe.

 Achievements:

  1. The Department of Radiology has been accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties as a training Centre in various Radiological specialties.
  2. Accreditation by the American College of Radiology in CT scan, Ultrasound imaging, PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine.
  3. Establishment of several innovative programs:    
  • Vascular anomaly program.
  • Loco-regional treatment of liver tumors.
  • Diabetic foot and amputation prevention program.
  • Outreach program, providing a quality of care across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  • Stroke Program.
  • Subspecialty fellowship programs

       4. Establishment of New Theranostic Tracers at Nuclear Medicine/KFSHRC:

  • New radiotracers in PET scan were introduced as the 1st in KSA to scan patients with Gallium, Choline & Sodium Fluoride.
  • 68Ga-Peptides for NET’s and Prostate Cancer diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals for PET Scan
  • PRRT Radio-peptide Therapy (DOTATATE/DOTATOC) for Neuro Endocrine Tumors
  • 177Lu-PSMA-617 Therapy in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer for prostate cancer castration  
  • PRRT Radio-peptide Therapy (DOTATATE/DOTATOC) for Unresectable Meningioma.
  • Radium-223 therapy in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer for prostate cancer castration.
