The Conclusion of "Ibn Sina" Training Program at KFSH&RC-Riyadh in Cooperation with “Mawhiba” Foundation

His Excellency Dr. Majid Alfayyadh , the Chief Executive Officer of the General Organization of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSH&RC) in Riyadh, and His Excellency Dr. Saud Al-Mutahmi, the Secretary-General of King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, witnessed on Thursday last the activities of the concluding session of the 13th edition of “Ibn Sina” training program meant for the students of the secondary school of “Mawhiba” Foundation. The 3-week-long training program was held in the laboratories of KFSH&RC-Riyadh and concluded on Thursday.

H.E. Dr. Alfayyadh expressed his pleasure at the passing out of the 13th batch of the “Ibn Sina" Training Program and wished to see them in the near future as scientists and researchers working in KFSH&RC-Riyadh or in any other national scientific institution.

H.E. Dr. Alfayyadh urged the trainees to take advantage of the great changes taking place in Saudi and the plethora of opportunities available for them to realize their ambitions.

Dr. Al-Mutahmi addressed the trainees and praised them for their scientific talents and abilities. He said: "You are future leaders and you possess a gift of talent that others don’t have." He referred to a speech of His Highness the Crown Prince in which he pledged his support for the talented youth so as to integrate them into the framework of national transformation program and the Saudi Vision of 2030.

The head of the “Ibn Sina” Training Program and a research scientist at the Department of Genetics, KFSH&RC-Riyadh, Dr. Dana Mohammed Bakhit, said that the training program was held in cooperation with the King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity and Alfaisal University. A number of prominent speakers from the King Saud University, the King Abdulaziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, and other national institutions were invited to deliver motivational lectures to the trainee students and to acquaint them with various scientific, academic, and creative experiments in this field and broaden their horizons.

She further stated that during the Ibn Sina Training Program, 5 research projects were presented by 27 students of secondary school under the supervision of a group of scientists from KFSH&RC-Riyadh and faculty members of the Alfaisal University. The program successfully equipped the students with scientific knowledge and research findings in the field of medical science. It also trained them on the methods of scientific research, personality building skills such as personal planning and presentation skills, and the development of thought and creative sense.

Dr. Bakhit elaborated that the training program included field visits to Alfaisal University, King Abdul Aziz and his Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. She also praised the contribution of the graduates and volunteer students of the College of Medicine at Alfaisal University for their contribution to the enrichment of the activities of the program and skills provided to the trainee students.

On this occasion, a number of trainee students gave speeches expressing their thanks and gratitude to the trainers and research scientists and to the organizers for their efforts and for the attention they received throughout the training period.
