Research Interests: My lab is interested in linking genes to inborn errors of human development. In particular, we’re interested in Mendelian forms of birth defects with emphasis on those involving the eye or craniofacial region. Recently, we have also started to investigate Mendelian phenocopies of common diseases.
Description: Autozygosity is an interesting phenomenon that has been utilized in the past to map numerous disease genes. We use autozygosity mapping to map novel birth defect genes in humans and attempt to understand their role in developments using animal models
