Patient Companion

The hospital’s policy regarding companions is as followed:

  • It is not allowed for patients to have more than one companion at the same time. In some special units' companions are not allowed at all.
  • The companions are not allowed to bring any family members or friends to the hospital to take care of them. The nursing staff is not responsible of taking care of any other child except the patient.

The following units do not allow patient companions:

E1, E2, E3, F1 wards, intensive care units, as well as A1 ward before or after giving birth.

The patient companion can be issued a permit card, this card should only be used by the person was assigned to and is to be renewed every 7 days.

The patient companion must be in good health, 18 years and older. If the companion is a pregnant woman, she should not be more than four months pregnant. If the patient is a child, the companion should be a woman. Companions are required to bring their own toiletries, clothes and personal items.


Patient companions are not allowed to touch or play with any of the patient’s medical equipment (such as devices, intravenous fluids, the oxygen pipeline, etc.) under any circumstances.

The companion should inform the medical staff of any defects or warning signs coming out of the equipment.


The patient companion should not disclose the side barrier of the bed without the supervision of nurse.


Companions could be asked to leave if they are ill or if they became non-cooperative with the patient’s treatment plan.


The companion’s mission is to provide psychological support to the patient, so the companion should make sure the room clean and tidy and should inform the housekeeping services about any uncleanliness.
