About

The Department of Emergency Medicine (DEM), the 1st Accredited Chest Pain Center with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Saudi Arabia, provides medical care to approximately 75,000 patients per year. The Department’s four (4) service sections – Adult, Pediatric, Urgent Care, and Ambulance Service – provide the highest quality advanced, effective, and timely 24/7 specialized emergency treatment to every eligible patient. After the initial medical assistance, the patient is directed to the concern department for further management. Our certified staff is capable of handling any kind of internal and external emergency.

The Department of Emergency Medicine, in collaboration with the Heart Centre, has attained the designation of Accredited Chest Pain Center with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, Ohio, USA. KFSH&RC is the first hospital in the Kingdom and only the second one in the region to have attained this distinction.

Scope of Service

The DEM operates under the Medical and Clinical Group Organization Structure. The Department has a Chairman, who is supported by two (2) Deputies, three (3) Section Heads and one (1) Ambulance Manager.  The Deputies cover the chairman during leaves, some weekends, assignments, and while on clinical coverage.

The DEM has three (3) medical sections – Adult, Pediatric and Urgent Care Clinic and one (1) technical section – Ambulance Services.

Administratively, the DEM Chairman has one (1) Senior Hospital Assistant and four (4) Hospital Assistants that report to the Chairman and/or his Section Heads.
