Research, Madinah aims to foster a vibrant research environment at KFSH&RC in Madinah, by promoting collaboration, ethical conduct, and high-quality research initiatives. 

List of Sections

Office of Administrative affairs (Research Development and Administration):

• Function: Increase research profile, communication, and collaboration within KFSH&RC.

•  Responsibilities:

• Liaise with national/international universities and institutes for collaborative research.

• Administrative support for the department, including research ethics committee administration and research governance.

• Organize REC/IRB meetings, record outcomes, and ensure efficient committee operation.

• Provide timely reports and feedback to ORA, Riyadh, on REC activities.

• Facilitate communication between researchers and ethics department.

• Oversee and support the work of the Administration and Research Governance section.

• Provide grant application support.

• Manage funding sources and liaison with national/international grants agencies.

• Oversee the appropriate use of grants/funds generated by KFSH&RC, Madinah.

Research Ethics Committee (REC/IRB):

•  Function: Conduct ethics review and provide feedback on all research projects at KFSH&RC, Madinah.

•  Responsibilities:

• Review research proposals and provide ongoing feedback based on APP 1437-05.

• Make final decisions on the ethical conduct of studies.

Administration and Research Governance:

•  Function: Ensure the appropriate conduct of research at KFSH&RC, Madinah.

•  Responsibilities:

• Verify compliance of interventional trials and other studies with organizational policies and procedures.

• Oversee the quality and adherence to international standards in research projects.

•  Assist researchers in setting up and conducting research projects to international standards.

• Monitor data collection, privacy, confidentiality, and patient/participant safety.

• Collaborate with compliance and governance teams in Riyadh and Jeddah.

Clinical Research/Trials:

•  Function: Support and promote clinical studies including clinical trials at KFSH&RC, Madinah.

•  Responsibilities:

• Conduct site feasibility assessments and provide support for researchers.

•  Assist in setting up and running clinical trials.

•  Negotiate contracts and funding with relevant entities.

•  Establish efficient documentation and approval processes.

•  Ensure adequate support for conducting clinical trials at KFSH&RC, Madinah.

•  Foster collaboration with external entities to attract clinical trials.

•  Maintain close working relationships with the clinical research teams in Riyadh and Jeddah.
