Introduction:

The mission of the internship is for the clinical laboratory intern, over a period of time, to attain and build upon the knowledge, skills, responsibilities, and ability to safely, efficiently, and effectively practice laboratory work under the laws and rules of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Objectives:

• Provide clinical laboratory interns with a basic understanding of how and why these tests are performed.
• Identify tests that would be performed in a high-volume or stat laboratory.
• Familiarize interns with the management aspects of a clinical laboratory. The clinical laboratory intern will develop a general understanding of the business procedures, including employing and supervising laboratory employees.
• Ensure the safe and accurate preparation and calculation of reagents and instruments. The clinical laboratory intern will perform the required calculations to conduct various tests for the respective sections.
• Expose clinical laboratory interns to the diseases processes associated with the tests they perform. 

Duration:

The clinical laboratory intern will spend 48 weeks of general rotation in the various sections.

Acceptance Criteria:

• Internship request letter from the intern’s sponsor
• Saudi national or born to a Saudi mother 
• A GPA of 4 out of 5 and above
• Pass the KFSHRC English Placement Test (Achieving level 6 and above).
• Pass the interview
