Clinical Audiology Riyadh
Introduction:
The Audiology Department at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC) is committed to preparing interns to deliver the highest quality of care in a highly specialized hospital environment to the people of Saudi Arabia.
The six-month clinical training program is designed for interns who graduated from local Audiology Bachelor’s degree programs.
The training program is set in accordance with international standards in order to:
• Increase the interns’ skills in all aspects of clinical audiology.
• Develop confidence in working with tertiary care cases who require special audiological management.
Rotations, assignments, and presentations within the Section of Audiology will provide the knowledge and skills gained by this program.
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the program, each Audiology Intern should be able to:
• Provide comprehensive audiological services that meet community needs in a variety of settings
• Understand basic audiological tests and their underlying theory.
• Demonstrate the ability to apply theory in clinical practice.
• Provide a diagnosis based on test results.
• Evaluate patients’ hearing by utilizing a battery of diagnostic tools.
• Demonstrate clinical thinking and self-assessment skills in order to improve knowledge and practice
• Demonstrate knowledge of vestibular function diagnosis and rehabilitation.
• Demonstrate accurate knowledge about management options for the hearing impaired including Cochlear Implants.
• Communicate orally and in writing with members of the healthcare team at KFSHRC.
• Demonstrate knowledge of infection control principles while testing patients.
• Be aware of health policy, program management, and administration rules and regulations.
Duration:
Six (6) months
Acceptance Criteria:
• Internship request letter from the intern’s sponsor
• Saudi national or born to a Saudi mother
• A GPA of 4 out of 5 and above
• Pass the interview
