Introduction:
This rotation aims to highlight the storage, manipulation, analysis, and interpretation of biological data, especially data on nucleic acids and amino acids, and studies molecular rules and systems that govern or affect the structure, function, and evolution of various forms of genomics from computational approaches.
Objectives:
• Define the basics of bioinformatics, including clinical applications.
• Understand the Linux operating system and its application in bioinformatics
• Demonstrate the Python programming for bioinformatics purposes
• Understand data science principles for bioinformatics
• Recognize next-generation sequencing technologies
• Identify pipelines used in medical applications.
One month
Acceptance Criteria:
• Internship request letter from the intern’s sponsor
• Saudi national or born to a Saudi mother
• A GPA of 3 out of 4 and above
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or a bachelor’s or master’s in a life science related field with some background information about computing
• Pass the interview
• Valid English qualification IELTS (minimum score of 4.5 overall or equivalent)
