Saleh Ali Alqahtani

Dr. Alqahtani is a healthcare executive and physician-leader with more than 20 years of experience specializing in liver and digestive diseases, with a focus on advancing patient-centered care, research, and health system innovation. He serves as Chairman and CEO of the Royal Clinics and as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors at KFSHRC, contributing to strategic direction and institutional governance.

An internationally recognized researcher, his works focus on fatty liver disease (MASLD), hepatocellular carcinoma, liver transplantation, and early detection of digestive and liver cancers. He leads large-scale research initiatives to define disease burden and improve outcomes, translating findings into innovation across diagnostics, digital health, and care delivery.

Through his clinical, academic, and executive roles, he integrates evidence-based medicine with system-level transformation to enhance healthcare quality in Saudi Arabia and globally, while fostering global collaborations and mentoring future leaders in medicine.

Dr. Alqahtani is a certified Specialist by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Gastroenterology, Transplant Hepatology and Obesity Medicine. He is a distinguished physician-executive with over 20 years of leadership experience across academic medicine, clinical services, and healthcare governance in Saudi Arabia and the United States. He earned his medical degree from King Abdulaziz University and completed fellowships in gastroenterology at University of Calgary and advanced hepatology at Mayo Clinic.

He previously served in senior clinical and academic leadership roles at Johns Hopkins University and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He holds academic appointments at leading institutions, including Johns Hopkins University, Weill Cornell Medicine/New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Mayo Clinic, and Alfaisal University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases.
