Summary

Leads the department inaccordance with the Hospital’s vision, mission, goals, and objectives.Responsible for the overall administrative activitiesof the department inaddition to the clinical duties as a Consultant.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Clinical Responsibilities

 

 

1.Provides general supervision over theprofessional care in the Department of Radiology.

2.Ensures the quality of medical diagnosisand care provided to outpatients of the department.

3.Directs the Organization of the staff soas to give optimum care to all patients accepted to the department inaccordance with policies and procedures of the Hospital.

4.Provides required patient care and managementin the area of Radiology in accordance with policies and procedures of theHospital.

5.Assumes responsibility for patients underhis care. Liaises with various service departments and medical specializationsto provide appropriate and timely medical care, in accordance with thestandards of medical care laid down by of the Hospital.

6.Complies with all Hospital standards andpolicies pertaining to acceptance, eligibility, admission, processes,consultation, daily patient care, outpatient practices and patient discharge asapplicable.

7.Assess patients’ diseases or conditionsto determine appropriate therapeutic modalities/procedures. Initiatesinvestigations and ensures findings are recorded.

8.Ensures appropriate patient preparationfor procedures/surgery and performs procedures/surgery as indicated in thesigned clinical privilege form.

9.Follows-up on investigation results foroutpatients and modifies treatment accordingly as applicable.

10.Attends specialty clinics, outpatientclinics, day surgical units, day medical units, special procedures treatmentareas and share on-call schedule as per requirements.

11.Performs any other clinicalresponsibilities related to specialty, as assigned.

 

Academic Responsibilities

 

1.Promotes Postgraduate Training Programs,Continuing Medical Education Activities, International Symposia and otherrequired educational and training courses and ensures evaluation and reportingof such activities.

2.Leads and promotes educational activitiesfor Residents, Fellows, Assistant Consultants, Junior Staff and other membersof the department.

3.Introduces and implements new advancesand techniques for complex procedures in the area of specialization.

4.Hosts National and International MedicalConferences in KFSH&RC and participates in similar conferences abroad asassigned.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Education

Graduation from a medical school in good standing, completion of required period of postgraduate training in a specialty and/or subspecialty, with Saudi/American Board or Canadian/UK certification, or equivalent as outlined by the Medical Staff Credentialing Committee.

Experience Required

Ten (10) years of clinical experience in a subspecialty including four (4) years in an admin capacity, plus post-training experience is required.
