Dr. Nadya is a research scientist with over two decades of experience in mechanism-driven biomedical research, specializing in genomics, molecular and cellular biology, and functional studies to understand how pathogenic genetic variants disrupt cellular homeostasis and contribute to human disease. Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of cell death signaling, including apoptosis, ferroptosis, inflammasome activation, and cellular stress responses, and their roles in disease pathogenesis.
She has made significant contributions to the identification and functional characterization of disease-causing genetic variants associated with inherited cardiovascular and reproductive disorders, revealing how disruptions in protein homeostasis and stress signaling lead to tissue-specific pathology. By integrating molecular mechanisms with clinical phenotypes, her work advances disease mechanism discovery, improves genetic variant interpretation, and supports the identification of biomarkers and therapeutic targets for precision medicine, with a particular emphasis on inherited disorders affecting the Saudi population.

Dr. Alyacoub has over 20 years of experience in biomedical research across academic and hospital-based research institutions in Germany and Saudi Arabia. She earned a Diplom degree in Biochemistry from Freie Universität Berlin, Germany's highest pre-doctoral university qualification, equivalent to an integrated Master's degree, followed by a Ph.D. from Charité–Universitätsmedizin Berlin, where her doctoral research focused on psoriasis and autoimmune disease.
She began her research career as a Research Associate and subsequently served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Charité–Universitätsmedizin Berlin before joining King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre in 2011 as a Scientist in the Cardiovascular Research Program. Since 2018, she has been a Scientist in the Comparative Medicine Department, where she continues to advance research in disease mechanisms, genomics, and precision medicine.
