This is a two-year fellowship program with an optional third year to be spent in research or infection control services. The program is well-organized in such a way that a trainee rotates through all the specialties necessary for the infectious diseases clinician, including clinical services, diagnostic microbiology laboratory and infection control services. Clinical services are a busy service with more than a thousand consultations a year.

During a service rotation, the trainee has the opportunity to see a wide variety of infectious diseases problems, spanning a wide spectrum ranging from common infectious diseases problems to the more complicated infections in the immunocompromised host. Microbiology laboratory is CAP-accredited and offers state-of-the-art diagnostics in microbiology. Since infection control is an integral part of infectious diseases training, fellows will have the opportunity to experience well-structured services enabling them to become familiar with infection control and isolation measures, surveillance system and monitoring infection rates, as well as outbreak investigations.

In addition, the program provides regular and structured educational activities for fellows, including clinical education and discussion, microbiology plate round and journal club. During training, fellows are encouraged to conduct clinical research. This activity is well supported by the availability of abundant clinical material and willing staff to supervise. In addition, help with data management and statistical analysis is available through the Research Centre.
