Palliative Care
King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center is a pioneer in the implementation of this type of care. It has established the first ever Palliative Care Service in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the early 1990s. Since then, our expertise has never stopped to grow with only one goal in mind: to provide you and your family with the best care possible.
Our team is composed of experiences and specialized physicians, nurses, and other professionals. We work in close collaboration with your main treating team and other healthcare providers to optimize your wellbeing, no matter what choices you are making in terms of treatments.
WHAT IS PALLIATIVE CARE?
Palliative Care is a type of care that focuses on improving the wellbeing of persons and families facing the problems associated with a serious illness such as cancer. It is also known as "Supportive Care". Relief of pain and discomfort are the focus of care whether they are physical, emotional, social or spiritual.
FOR WHO
Palliative Care is for anyone affected by a serious or life-threatening illness or condition.
It is also intended to provide support and guidance to the family who is inevitably affected by the illness of their loved one.
Adults and children can benefit from Palliative Care.

Research has shown that a person is more likely to adhere to his medical treatments if symptoms are well controlled.

Anywhere along the trajectory of a serious or life-limiting illness, Palliative Care can be help. A person does not need to give up curative treatments, such as chemotherapy, in order to benefit from this type of care.
