The European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI)

The European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) is a branch of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).

We are a not-for-profit organisation. Everything we do is to support our 14,000 members and all healthcare professionals (cardiologists, technicians, nurses, basic scientists and allied professionals) from cardiovascular imaging worldwide so they can deliver the best possible evidence-based care to patients.

Our activities are driven by volunteers who are renowned experts from across all imaging techniques - echocardiography, cardiovascular magnetic resonance, nuclear cardiology and cardiac computed tomography.

Our Mission:

To promote excellence in clinical diagnosis, research, technical development, and education in cardiovascular imaging.

The European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) Accreditation provides the foremost laboratory accreditation program for professional excellence in Europe. Along with formal acknowledgement from a scientific society, educational tools to improve overall quality and standards against which labs can benchmark themselves, the overall aim is to raise quality standards of practice across Europe in a uniform manner. The certification process is rigorous and to be eligible, echocardiography laboratories must have been established for at least 3 years and must have senior staff who hold individual certification with EACVI.

The Echocardiography Lab at KFSH&RC achieved accreditation in 2013 and was re-accredited in March 2019.
