Critical Care Medicine

The two-year fellowship program will expose the fellow to a unique array of critical care patients. The Department of Critical Care Medicine operates 49 intensive care beds for adult tertiary care patients with medical and surgical problems. The fellow will be introduced to cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art principles for monitoring and therapy, with special emphasis on sepsis, ARDS and mechanical ventilation, multiple organ failure, infection control, nutrition, pain, and postoperative management. Ethical considerations and end-of-life decisions will be an integrated part of the program.

The fellow will be trained to perform all major ICU procedures with proficiency. The program aims to prepare and enable the fellow to assume full responsibility for the comprehensive management of critically ill patients.
