Thoracic Surgery

A three-year fellowship program aiming to enable fellows to develop an understanding of a wide spectrum of thoracic surgery procedures, including tracheal surgery, various mediastinal procedures, lung surgery for benign and malignant disease, oesophageal surgery, upper GI endoscopies, thoracoscopic procedures, chest wall surgery and lung transplantation.

Thoracic Surgery advances care in a highly specialized nature, where technology is being at an ever-increasing rate to train surgeons wishing to specialize and become highly skilled and competent in the specialty.  The weekly meeting activity such as thoracic tumor board, transplant meetings, thoracic radiology meetings and journal club enrich the knowledge of a fellow.

Participation in research during the fellowship is abundant.  It is the fellowship’s objective to make fellows, at the conclusion of their training, capable and proficient in managing the various thoracic surgery cases independently, safely and confidently.
