Minister Al-Falih inspects “King Faisal Specialist Hospital” Expansion Projects and Launches its new Portal

His Excellency Eng. Khalid Al-Falih, Minister of Health and Chairman of the Executive Board of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, accompanied by His Excellency Dr. Qasim Al Qasabi, Chief Executive Officer of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre and Members of the Board of Directors inspected the King Abdullah Centre for Cancer and Liver Diseases and the Hospital’s new emergency building. 

Dr. Qasim Al Qasabi explained that the building of King Abdullah Centre for Cancer and Liver Diseases is in its final stages of furnishing and medical equipment supplies. It has 300 sleeping beds as well as 96 chemotherapy beds and 8 advanced operation theatres. The Centre also has a number of sophisticated services and techniques he added. His Excellency also commented that the building is linked to the main Hospital with an 86 meters two-storey bridge. Dr. Al-Qasabi pointed out that the new 6 - storey emergency building is built on 19 thousand square meters and includes a roof top helipad for medical evacuation and that all vital projects are progressing according to the paln.

His Excellency Eng. Khalid Al-Falih, during the meeting of Board of directors of the General Organization of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, inaugurated the Hospital’s new portal on Tuesday 14 Jumada Al Awal 1437 H. This portal contains advanced various medical, research and awareness services targeting the whole society in an effort to provide the highest specialized medical care and raising the standard of health awareness.

Dr. Osama Al-Swailem, Chief Information Officer of Health Information Technology affairs stated that the electronic portal contains advanced systems and services that serve all health care professionals as well as researchers, university students and the society as a whole. He indicated that the design of the portal is characterized with simplicity and easy access to information and various departments. It also supports the latest computer systems and smart phones to facilitate access to its content from anywhere. He also added that the portal contains a comprehensive health encyclopedia aiming at providing complete medical, educational and research information, in addition to its contribution to raising the standard of the community’s health awareness.  

He explained that identifying the targeted audiences of the portal has been the result of several workshops and brainstorming sessions resulted in educational programs that aim at developing the skills of all healthcare practitioners and providing residency and fellowship programs compatible with international accreditation criteria. This is in addition to offering all scientific research programs, tools and innovations to specialist researchers who will be able to provide even better tertiary health care to patients. The development also extends to enable the portal to be a strategic guide for the development of employees at King Faisal Hospital and Research Centre through raising the standard of the employees’ ability, and to view the latest technologies and medical equipment.
