Dr Abdelilah Aboussekhra is a Principal Scientist and Group leader specializing in Molecular Oncology. His major research interests are the role of the tumour microenvironment in breast carcinogenesis and the identification of novel anti-cancer molecules and prognostic biomarkers.

Career Background
Dr Aboussekhra earned his PhD from Orsay University (Paris XI) in 1992, and joined the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (Clare Hall, London) as a post-doctoral fellow from 1992 to 1995. In 1996, he joined the Institute of Cell Biology (ETH, Zurich) as an Associate Scientist for 2 years. He began his professional career at KFSHRC as a Scientist in 1998, and was promoted to Principal Scientist in 2012. He chaired the Department of Molecular Oncology from 2015 to 2025. He has extensive experience in DNA repair, apoptosis, cancer biology, and drug discovery and development.
