Dr. Israa Salem holds a PhD in Genetics, Genomics, and Cancer Biology from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from Thomas Jefferson University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from King Abdulaziz University.

She previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher at King Abdulaziz University, where she studied the use of cell-free DNA for prenatal testing, and at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), where she investigated the dynamics of membraneless organelles formed via liquid-liquid phase separation and its impact on protein function. She published several papers in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and received a postdoctoral fellowship from the Ministry of Education, Saudi Arabia.
