Overview
Dr. Shahad Alsaiari's research focuses on the development of next-generation, clinically translatable RNA therapeutics and advanced delivery technologies for vaccines, genetic disorders, and regenerative conditions. By integrating RNA biology, nanomedicine, biomaterials, and immunoengineering, her research aims to overcome key barriers to the safe, targeted, and efficient development and delivery of RNA-based medicines, accelerating their translation from bench to bedside. Her long-term goal is to develop transformative therapeutic platforms that improve patient outcomes, expand access to precision medicine, and ultimately reduce the societal and economic burden of human disease.

Career Background
Over 10 years of research experience in nanomedicine, biomaterials, and drug delivery. She completed postdoctoral training at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she contributed to the development of advanced vaccine and mRNA delivery technologies.
She earned her PhD in Bioscience from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), where her research focused on engineering nanoparticle-based delivery systems for CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing, cancer immunotherapy, and antimicrobial biomaterials. She has over 10 years of research experience in nanomedicine, biomaterials, and drug delivery, with a strong focus on developing innovative therapeutic platforms for precision medicine.
