Overview

A Senior Scientist specializing in tumor immunology and immunotherapy, with extensive expertise in both basic and translational research. Leads research programs focused on understanding immune cell exhaustion and dysfunction within the tumor microenvironment and on developing next-generation cancer immunotherapies.

Integrates innate and adaptive immune engineering approaches, including CAR-NK cell therapies, adenoviral vector–based cancer vaccines, and ex vivo immune cell programming strategies. Possesses a strong background in T cell and NK cell biology, immune exhaustion mechanisms, and immune–tumor interactions.

Research efforts are directed toward translating innovative immunological concepts into clinically relevant therapies for solid tumors, with particular emphasis on high–unmet-need malignancies. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, contributes to the development of novel, scalable immunotherapeutic platforms aligned with precision medicine and national research priorities.

Fields of Expertise

Career Background

A tumor immunologist with extensive academic and translational research experience in cancer immunotherapy. Received graduate training in gene therapy, tumor immunology, and molecular genetics, followed by postdoctoral training at Michigan State University. Subsequently joined the same institution as a faculty member, serving as Assistant Professor and later Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Genetics, and Immunology.

Research has centered on immune regulation, immune cell exhaustion, and immune–tumor interactions, alongside the development of innovative immunotherapeutic strategies. Has led and contributed to multidisciplinary research programs spanning basic discovery, preclinical validation, and translational development.

Holds a Master’s degree in Molecular Basis of Diseases from University of Toledo College of Medicine, a PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Michigan State University, and an MBA in Integrative Management from Michigan State University.
