Comprising of two broad sections—Family Medicine and Polyclinics—this department is the first ambulatory care service outside the United States to achieve HIMSS 7 Accreditation. While the Family Medicine section offers cost-effective, efficient, and evidence-based healthcare services to hospital employees and their eligible dependents (~50,000).

The Polyclinics section (a backup support to the emergency department) is responsible for the initial health and medical assessment of patients, before referring them to tertiary care services. The department offers urgent care services through face to face and virtual consultations. Out of hours’ services have also been established through evening clinics available for patients who prefer these timings as well as virtual clinics for those who have difficulty attending physically. In addition, procedure clinics run by our Family physicians offer minor surgical and dermatological procedures for our patient population.

Scope of Service

Family Medicine and Polyclinics – Training Programs:

• Family Medicine Residency Training Program.

• Family Medicine Clerkship Program.

• Establishment of Management of Chronic Diseases Series by organizing 3 symposia every year in locations across the Kingdom.

• TOT (Train the trainers) program to improve the quality of our residency training programs.
